Building systems
that matter

Vipin Jose
Building Payment Hub · Galileo/SoFi

I'm a Staff Software Engineer with 11+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems. Right now, that means financial systems — payment rails, workflow orchestration, and platforms that move money reliably at scale.

At Galileo/SoFi, I lead the engineering behind the Payment Hub — a platform unifying FedWire, FedNow, and ACH under a single architecture. I care deeply about correctness and building systems that hold up when it matters most.

Outside of systems, I'm drawn to the questions that don't have clean answers — consciousness, time, meaning, what lies beyond what we can observe. The same curiosity that pulls me toward hard engineering problems pulls me toward the edges of what's knowable.

Things I've built

Current role · Galileo/SoFi — systems that move real money, built for correctness, reliability, and scale.

Payment Hub

Designed and built Galileo's unified payment platform — a single API surface, consolidated eventing model, and shared orchestration primitives across FedNow, FedWire, and ACH.

One platform · Every rail
🚀

FedNow — Instant Payments

Led Galileo's first 24×7×365 instant payment rail — among the first to enable both send and receive on FedNow. Architected for 99.95% availability and millions of transactions annually.

Real-time · Always on
🔄

Temporal Platform

Instrumental in establishing Temporal as Galileo's workflow orchestration platform. Built the first production workflows across payment rails, creating org-wide standards and best practices.

Company-wide adoption
🏦

FedWire Modernization

Led architecture and delivery with direct Federal Reserve connectivity via FedLine Direct. Replaced a manual batch process with near real-time processing. First Galileo system on ISO 20022.

1.04 hrs → ~55 seconds
📦

ACH Platform

Expanded ACH with CCD, CIE, and PPD SEC codes enabling B2B, B2C, and C2B transfers. Improved throughput ~65% by parallelizing long-running workflows.

~65% throughput gain
☁️

AWS Migration

Led near-zero-downtime migrations of legacy ACH and Billpay platforms from on-prem to AWS, keeping live production payment systems running throughout.

Zero downtime
🧭

Technical Leadership

Mentored senior engineers, drove architectural direction across the Payment Hub, and established cross-team standards and best practices — enabling clear ownership and faster execution at scale.

Beyond the Code

Outside work

A few things that keep me grounded, curious, and moving.

⛷️

Skiing

The mountain is my happy place. Speed, focus, fresh snow — it resets everything.

🌍

Traveling

Always planning the next trip. New places, new perspectives — the best way to stay curious.

🧘

Meditation

A daily practice. The mind works differently when it's quiet.

🥾

Hiking

Best thinking happens on a trail. Nature untangles what a screen can't.

📸

Photography

Finding the interesting angle in an ordinary moment. A practice in attention.

🍽️

Food & Cooking

Exploring new restaurants as much as new recipes. Food is culture and connection.
